About Vignelle

Anaïs grew up on a small vineyard in the Loire Valley, near Vouvray — the one her grandfather called la Vignelle. After every harvest he said the same thing over the skins and stems piled by the press: nothing on a vineyard is waste, only things you haven't found a use for yet.
At twenty she was in Paris, cutting leather for the houses whose names you know. Over fifty years she learned what makes a bag hold its shape for a decade — the weight of a panel, the angle of a stitch, the edge nobody sees. She also learned what it costs: the hides that arrived by the pallet, the tanning baths, the offcuts swept into bins at the end of every day.
In 2019, at seventy-one, she stopped. Not the craft — the leather. She set out to make bags that hold their shape, age well and feel like the ones she used to cut, without an animal in them. She named them after the vineyard, because her grandfather had been right: the answer was never more of the same material. It was a better one.

Fifty years with the real thing taught Anaïs what leather gives you: structure, a soft hand, a surface that wears in rather than out. The vegan leather we use is chosen for exactly those qualities — and for what it leaves out.
It is not a compromise. It is the choice of someone who knew leather better than most, and decided she no longer needed it.
For seven years, Anaïs designed Vignelle from a small atelier in the Loire, a few kilometres from the vineyard that gave it its name. In 2026, at seventy-eight, she is retiring — and when the atelier closes, Vignelle closes with it.
She will not hand the name to someone else, and she does not want the last pieces to sit in boxes after the doors shut. So everything that remains is being released once, at 80% off. There will be no restock and no second collection.
When a piece is gone, it is gone.
If a Vignelle piece is not what you expected, you have 30 days to send it back. We would rather lose a sale than keep a customer who is not happy.
